I love painting abstract florals and I love lots of color! And this is why you will find me painting lots of cheerful florals. Painting and being creative feeds my soul in ways that nothing else can. I'm sure a lot of you know exactly what I'm talking about?

That being said, it's funny how hard of a push it can be to get into the art studio. For example, I can wander around trying to fill that void for days before I finally just pick up a paintbrush and get started. And then, I can't stop! And, it feels SO GOOD! Can you relate, or am I just crazy?!

Why Painting Live?

So, I am committing to film myself once a week painting live. As a result, I hope to develop a better studio practice along with getting more comfortable in front of the camera.

This will be a good getaway for me from my normal day to day of designing whimsical pendulum clocks, fun animal planters, reusable bags and clever compact mirrors.

52 Painting Project

This particular painting is part of my 52 Painting Project. In which, I hope to have completed before the end of the year. At that time, I am planning on having a show/celebration (in person and virtual) where the finished paintings in the series will be up for viewing and for sale. This has been a very exciting artistic adventure for me. And consequently has really done a lot to develop my painting style. I enjoy painting on wrapped canvas as it's light weight and doesn't require framing. Painting live will be a fun way to bring you along on this journey with me.

As a visual artist

I'm always looking to push myself outside of my comfort zone. And I will say, filming myself painting has definitely been one of those "outside comfort zone" moments. Funny as it is, I remember being at a wedding years ago and they had someone painting live. It was so lovely and I thought to myself that I would love to do that someday. Maybe, just maybe, if I keep posting videos I'd work up the courage and confidence to paint live at an event or small gathering.
